For my hydrantologist friends.

 These are a newer style for around here, found in St. Augustine. Some dress better than others.

James, those lower units I've never found in Germany, and throughout Europe only my last finds in Italy were of similar figure. I am going to Ireland in ten days and will certainly report my findings of hydrants.

They are short. Yes. That's one thing I really find distinctive with all the US hydrants I have seen so far.

Markus forgot to tell that the Italian ones he found are ugly!

I am looking at very old photos (that is 2003) I took of hydrants right now and will post one on the scrap press. The photo is _not_ resized ... even if I looked for the original one at first since I thought this can't be the original. It was taken with an Olympus C1 - 1.3MP.
